We are in summer. Some on vacation and others working or not knowing what to do. For this reason we are going to propose a little entertainment. How about choosing one of your photos and making a puzzle with the help of Adobe Photoshop?
In Adobe Photoshop there is no way to make a puzzle directly. They even removed the ability to create a template in version CS5. Now you have to go to Adobe Exchange to get it. But we have found another option . So we are going to work directly with one of the many templates that we can find on the internet just by doing a search.
You have to take very few steps but they may be more complicated than usual. The effect is very curious and although they may not be part of a professional project, we may make a member of the family happy.

How to make a puzzle in Adobe Photoshop
As we mentioned at the beginning, we can download an extension in Adobe Exchange called Free puzzle pieces . But we want to make it easier than downloading this action.
We just have to put in the search engine 'puzzle template' or 'jigsaw' to find a template that will serve us for our entertainment today. Do not give it more laps because it cannot be easier.
With the template downloaded and a photo chosen, we just have to follow the following steps. Let's experiment with Layer Styles, blends , and other program features:
- We open the two files in the same document. The easiest thing is to select the two in Adobe Bridge and go to Tools> Photoshop> Load Photoshop Layered Files .
- It is important that the puzzle layer is at the top. You just have to click and move it within the Layers window .
- We lower its Opacity to this layer to 50%.
- With this layer selected, we activate the Magic Wand tool and in its configuration bar we mark Sampling only contiguous pixels and select all the pieces we want.
- We remove the visibility of the puzzle layer by clicking on the eye icon and with the photo layer active we go to the Layer menu > Layer mask> Discover selection . We begin to see the puzzle.
- We create a new empty layer in Layer> New> Layer , which we will place below the others and we will paint it the color we want. In my case red. If we want we can give it a noise and blur effect to make it more natural ... or put any other background.
- We select again the layer of our photography, in this case the rabbit, and we go to Layer> Layer style> Blending options . In the Layer Styles window we mark Blending Options> Bevel and relief and Drop shadow to give it a more realistic look.
- To top it off, we can reactivate the puzzle layer, select individual pieces with the Magic Wand tool ; remove its visibility, activate the layer of the rabbit photograph and do Ctrl + J to duplicate the selection with all the effects.
- And we would only have to select piece by piece with the Rectangular Marquee tool and with Edit> Free Transformation to move each one of them as if it were a real puzzle.
It is nothing more than a naive trick of Adobe Photoshop, which surely many people will like. Just sit back and test until you find the best effect. You will tell us.
